Materials:
• Shampoo
• Conditioner
• towel
• blow dryer
• a straightener
• rat-tail comb
• a Denman or demi brush (optional)
• a plastic cap
• 4-5 hair clips
• Spray bottle of water (optional)
• Cantu shea butter leave-in conditioning repair cream (I recommend this brand but use any leave-in conditioner you like)
Instructions:
1. Cleanse
a. Wash and condition your hair with product of your choice. The goal is to get rid of any product build-up from past hairstyles.
b. Tip: when conditioning your hair, apply an even coat from root to end all over your hair. Then put a plastic cap on for 10-15 minutes. Once the time is up, rinse the conditioner out of your hair. Never rinse out conditioner immediately after applying it because that defeats the purpose.
c. Towel dry your hair. You still want your hair to be damp but not dripping wet.
2. Apply
a. Place a towel around your shoulders and leave it there the whole time.
b. Part your hair into four sections. Do not use rubber bands to hold the sections. Use the butterfly clips to avoid hair breakage.
c. Lightly apply the Cantu LEAVE-IN evenly throughout your hair from root to end. Do one section at a time. Work efficiently so your hair doesn’t dry. However, gently spray water on the dry parts.
d. Once all your hair is evenly coated, apply the oils to your hair AND SCALP. The coconut oil promotes softness and the argan is a natural heat protectant. Both of the oils lock in the moisture of the Cantu leave-in and protect the scalp against dryness.
e. Place a plastic cap on your hair for 10 minutes. If you have really thick hair like mine smooth and finger detangle your hair, during this time. Keep your hair sectioned in the four parts.
3. Dry
a. Set your blow dryer to medium.
b. Section by section, blow dry and detangle your hair until it is completely dry.
c. You may remove the section once it is done.
4. Iron
a. If your hair is thick and coily like mine, set your iron to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. If you’re unsure which temperature to use or if you’re worried about heat damage (the argan is a heat protectant), set the iron to 275 degrees Fahrenheit.
b. It is better to start in the kitchen or the back of your head and work your way up when straightening your hair.
c. Depending on the style or how straight you want your hair, style and straighten as desired.
